My Everyday Beauty Routine

If you follow me on Instagram, you know that I love to engage with my friends, new friends and followers from all over the world, over Instagram stories. While I post a lot of content about healthy eating, fitness and personal development, I get SO many questions about beauty: what I do and what products I use before, during or after a workout. I find this very flattering, but also amusing because I really feel like I just throw it together rather quickly! But as requested, I’m outlining the beauty products that make the daily rotation and how I use them.

Maintain healthy blonde hair

If you’ve seen my health transformation picture, you’ve probably noticed that I’ve gone through several different hair colors in my years. Though I’ll never go back to brunette, I do sometimes feel a bit guilty about how harsh bleach can be so I try to nourish and protect my hair any way possible. Purple shampoo is made to neutralize the brassy tones of blonde, keeping it bright and golden. My favorite purple shampoo is the R&Co Sunset Blvd Shampoo & Conditioner. Although R&Co products run at a higher price-point than I would normally shop, I value that their products are 100% vegan, cruelty-free, paraben-free & color-safe.

My second trick to luscious locks

is spreading out my shampooing. To keep my hair from drying out, I really try to only wash it 2 or 3 times a week! Shampoo is super drying for your hair, but I’d be lying if Is aid that was the main reason. Truly I just don’t want to blow dry and curl it day in and day outI know it probably sounds like I walk around with a sweaty scalp, but thanks to dry shampoo, I can workout and still be ready for my day in no more than 30 minutes.

My favorite dry shampoo is Batiste. Batiste dry shampoo smells amazing, offers different color dry shampoos for different hair types and can be relatively inexpensive if you can find it at TJ Maxx or Homegoods! After working out, I let my scalp air dry in the sun, or blow dry it on cool if I’m in a rush, and once it’s dry I spray Batiste on any areas that need a bit of freshness.

Let’s talk skincare

One of the things that drew me to San Diego was the gorgeous sun and proximity to wilderness. I usually workout outside and I love to go to the beach and go hiking with friends. This means my face is often in the sun, which we all know can be very damaging. I don’t know about you but I’m trying to look 33 forever 😉 . I always make sure I use a moisturizer with SPF in it, no matter where I’m going. My favorite SPF moisturizer is the Vitamin E moisturizer made by the Body Shop, which you can find at Ulta or the The Body Shop store (or Amazon, of course). I like this moisturizer because it’s not too greasy, it’s more of a gel, so it goes on very lightly.

How I prevent breakouts from sweating…

I frequently get asked what I do for facial cleansing since I’m working out so often. It’s actually so simple I’m surprised it even works. I use facial cleansing wipes all day long. I use them when I wake up, after I workout, after running a bunch of errands, and even before bed. I have at least 3 in my purse at any given time.

I’ve tried several different types of wipes, and I always look for ones that soothe, hydrate and cleanse. My favorite ones are the Cleansing Swipes made by the Clinique Fit line, which I get online or from Ulta. All of the products on the Clinique Fit line have no parabens, phthalates, or fragrance, which makes me feel even cleaner on the days when I’m squeezing in a workout before teaching, grocery shopping, and team calls.

Smelling fresh even after working out...

Working out in the San Diego sun, I work up a pretty hard sweat. Sometimes squeezing in a class in my busy day means there isn’t time for a shower before errands or a lunch date. After body swipes and fresh deodorant, I have to give credit to fresh spray. Fresh spray is important after a workout for 2 reasons. (1) So you don’t go to the grocery store smelling like a marathon runner, and (2) because your body loses so much water when you sweat, you need to hydrate your skin in addition to drinking water. I alternate between the CliniqueFit Workout Face + Body Hydrating Spray and the SweatWellth Power Shower Spray. The Clinique Fit Spray doesn’t have any fragrance in it, so I mostly use that to rehydrate and cool down. The Power Shower Spray does have some coconut and jojoba oil in it, so I like to spray that one when I want a little bit of a fresh and tropical scent.

Look Alive…

On the day-to-day I don’t tend to wear too much makeup, simply because I’m usually running from my workout to the studio or to a team call. I do, however, always put on waterproof mascara. I find that if I put on mascara in the morning, It will legit last me until I take it off at night- as long as it’s the waterproof kind. Waterproof mascara does tend to be harder to get off, but I scrub with a little coconut oil and it helps make it a bit easier. My absolute favorite mascara is the Too Faced Better Than Sex Waterproof Mascara. The brush is contoured, will I feel helps my lashes stay curled longer, too.

As you can see, I keep it pretty simple when it comes to beauty. If I had about 5 more hours in my day I might do something more complex but this routine helps me fit in all the things I need, and feel confident that I don’t look or smell like I just ran a marathon.

I love trying new products and would love to hear what products others are using and suggest. Drop a comment below if you have any suggestions or are curious about any other health and beauty products I like.

‘till next time…
